Common Butterflies Seen in Yards and Gardens

 

When thinking about what to plant in your butterfly garden, it is wise to first consider what types of butterflies already live in your area. By selecting the desired caterpillar food plants and most popular nectar plants for butterflies that are know to be common to your location, you will be further on your way to quickly having a successful butterfly garden.

The following lists will help you determine which butterflies may be the first to appear in your garden, what time of year to expect them, and what months their caterpillars may be found.
